Summer Tour Guide – Higginson Tower
Location: 5843 Highway 34, Vankleek Hill, ON K0B 1R0
Employment Type: Seasonal (Summer)
Hours: Wednesday through Sunday, for 10 weeks, beginning on the last Wednesday in June, from 10 to 4
Compensation: $17.20 per hour
As this job is funded by Canada Summer Jobs, candidates must be between the ages of 15 and 30 years old.
About the Higginson Tower
The Higginson Tower is a historic landmark that offers visitors breathtaking views and insight into the rich heritage of the area. As a Summer Tour Guide, you will be an ambassador for the site, engaging with guests, sharing historical facts, and ensuring a memorable experience for all visitors. You will be familiar with the community and the region and will be able to answer most tourist questions about local events, our community, and the region.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead engaging and informative tours, sharing historical and architectural details of Higginson Tower.
- Answer visitor questions and provide excellent customer service.
- Assist with ticket sales, visitor enquiries, and gift shop sales if applicable.
- Ensure the safety of guests by enforcing site rules and guidelines.
- Assist in event planning and special tours as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the visitor areas.
- Perform basic administrative tasks related to tour schedules and visitor feedback.
Requirements
- Bilingualism is a must.
- Familiarity with posting on social media platforms.
- Passion for history, storytelling, and engaging with the public.
- Strong communication and public speaking skills.
- Friendly, approachable, and professional demeanor.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Availability to work weekends and holidays as needed.
- Prior experience in customer service, tourism, or education is a plus.
